I’m excited to have you here. In this introduction, I’ll give you a quick tour so you can get familiar with how everything works. We’ll go over the structure of the course, the method we follow, how to submit your work, and a few other important details to help you get the most out of this experience.

We’ve now completed the block-out stage, and in this session, we took the opportunity to deepen our understanding of the plumb line and the movement of the blocks, focusing primarily on the pelvis. Using practical examples and photos of different models, we explored how block orientation varies in real bodies.

We also compared pelvic structures between models, noting differences such as the varying distances between the ASIS points, which is good to notice so we know how flexible we can be with out work.

In this catch-up session, we started by discussing clays—since Georgios is using a harder Monster Clay, we covered the pros and cons of working with both harder and softer clays, along with some practical tips (starting at minute 1).

I also gave a quick review of the previous lesson (at 10:50), and then walked through the steps for the upcoming lessons that you’ll need to complete before the next catch-up (starting at 16:40).

For next time, please aim to complete everything up to the Core Upper Back – Trapezius lesson. You’ve got 11 days to work through this section, which should be a good amount of time.

In today’s catch-up, we covered something important — the overall picture. It’s easy to get caught working too close, so remember to step back and assess your work more often.

It also seems I should remind you more regularly to check the model references. The videos are there as a step-by-step illustration, but the work is always based on the references we all need to follow — so don’t forget!

We also did a quick review of the past lessons and went over what’s coming next.

In this catch-up, I first asked about any challenges you might have faced in the previous lesson on the Glutes and Thigh. We also discussed the kind of surface quality we’re aiming for, and I reminded everyone to stay focused on the references. It looks like many are following the videos step by step while overlooking the model. Please keep in mind that the videos are meant as visual guidance, not the final goal—the references are where accuracy truly comes from.

Drawing & Learning (11:50): I shared why drawing is essential for sculptors—it sharpens observation and supports your 3D work.

Design Principles (20:40): We covered core visual art concepts like contrast, rhythm, and harmony, which give broader depth to any creative work.

In this catch-up, I share some examples from last week’s theory so you can see how these concepts apply to finished results (Min 9:00)—focusing on the combination of textures, contrast, flow, and more. I also show you some of my personal references (Min 18:00)and talk about the importance of body language and the psychology of the figure (Min 20:00). We wrap up with a reminder about preparing the presentation of your work for the final part of the course (Min 35:00).

I shared some of the students’ works and we discussed them briefly. Overall, I believe this has been a valuable experience. Yes, many of you got delayed—that’s completely normal. Life gets in the way, and this is not an easy challenge to take on.

What matters is that you found enough guidance and information here to make the process approachable. From this point on, it’s really up to each of you. You can close the chapter here, or you can continue your journey by practicing, experimenting, and producing your own work.

Whichever path you choose, remember: the tools and foundations are now in your hands.
